PP51 Strengths And Limitations Of Migraine Management Guidelines In The USA and Europe: A Targeted Literature Review

Introduction Migraine, the second leading cause of disability worldwide, remains underdiagnosed and undertreated. Considering high burden migraine, we analyzed strengths limitations existing migraine management guidelines. Methods A targeted literature review was conducted using MEDLINE on 24 March 2021 to identify current guidelines (including policies position statements) published in English language from France, Germany, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, USA. This supplemented by a gray search. Disease state or pharmacological for adults with comprising any following perspectives were included: health economics; payer; technology assessment; treatment access; impact guideline implementation economic disease burden. Guidelines Centers Control Prevention (CDC) policy analytical framework, which comprises three domains: problem identification, analysis, strategy development, ranking criteria each. Results Of 39 selected guidelines, 25 adequately identified problems related 35 sufficiently reviewed treatment, failed cite literature, one lacked sufficient content. Twenty-three healthcare professionals. Almost all stepwise approach; only American Academy Family Physicians offered first- second-line options. Four mentioned political forces, coverage budgetary aspects limited. Numerous described substantial categorized as ‘high’ benefits. Public 28 rated ‘more favorable’ 27 Thirteen defined intended purpose. Only States Department Health Human Services pain met CDC criteria. Conclusions Future may benefit inclusion information data, feasibility, public impact.
